Terms of Service
Effective 1 June 2026
This is a starting template and must be reviewed by qualified counsel before launch.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Quari Press, a publishing platform operated by Quari Press, Inc. By creating an account or using any part of our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
Service Description & Accounts
Quari Press is an AI-assisted publishing platform that enables creators to draft manuscripts, design storefronts, and sell digital books to a global audience. The platform includes a manuscript editor (the Bindery), a storefront builder, and an integrated checkout powered by Stripe. Access to features varies by membership tier — Author and Imprint — as described on our pricing page.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the service at any time with reasonable notice to active subscribers. Planned maintenance that materially affects your access will be announced in advance whenever practicable.
Quari Press is intended for individuals aged 18 or older. By using the platform, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal authority to enter into this agreement, whether on your own behalf or on behalf of a business entity.
Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Any activity that occurs under your account is your responsibility. You agree to notify us immediately at [SUPPORT EMAIL — founder to specify] if you suspect unauthorised access or a security breach affecting your account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are being used fraudulently, in violation of these Terms, or in a manner that harms other users or the platform’s integrity. Where possible, we will provide advance warning and an opportunity to remediate the issue before taking permanent action.
You may request deletion of your account at any time. Upon deletion, your storefront will be taken offline and your manuscript data will be removed from our active systems within 30 days, subject to retention obligations required by applicable law.
Payments, Subscriptions & Refunds
Subscriptions
Paid membership tiers (Author and Imprint) are billed monthly or annually as selected at signup. All prices are in USD and are exclusive of applicable taxes, for which you are solely responsible. By providing payment information, you authorise us to charge the applicable subscription fee on a recurring basis until you cancel. Billing is processed by Stripe, Inc.
Subscription cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access through the date already paid for. You may cancel at any time via the billing portal, accessible from your account settings. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial subscription periods.
Credit Packs
Credit packs are one-time purchases denominated in USD. Credits are consumed when you use AI-powered generation features. Unused credits do not expire while your account is active. Credits are non-transferable and have no cash value.
Refund Policy — Subscriptions & Credit Packs
Subscription fees and credit pack purchases are generally non-refundable. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us within 7 days of the charge at [SUPPORT EMAIL — founder to specify] and we will investigate in good faith. Refunds are issued at our sole discretion, except where required by applicable consumer law. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under the consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction.
Reader & Buyer Purchases
When a reader purchases a book through an author’s Quari storefront, that transaction is a sale between the reader (buyer) and the author (seller). Quari Press acts solely as the platform facilitator and payment processor — not as the seller or merchant of record for those transactions.
Each author is responsible for their own refund and return policy for book purchases. Quari does not guarantee refunds on completed book purchases. If you have purchased a book and cannot reach the author or believe there has been fraud, contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL — founder to specify] and we will assist in good faith with dispute escalation. Chargebacks and payment disputes are handled in accordance with Stripe’s dispute policies, which ultimately flow back through the author’s connected account.
Digital goods are delivered upon successful payment and are generally not eligible for return once access is granted, except as required by applicable law in your jurisdiction.
Author & Seller Terms
Authors who activate a storefront and sell books through Quari are independent sellers, not employees, agents, or partners of Quari Press. You are the merchant of record for your own book sales.
Platform Fee
Quari retains a 15% platform fee on the gross sale price of each book sold through your storefront. The remaining balance (minus any Stripe processing fees) is paid out to your connected Stripe account on Stripe’s standard payout schedule. By activating a storefront, you explicitly acknowledge and agree to this fee structure.
Stripe Connect
To receive payouts, you must connect a Stripe account via Stripe Connect. By connecting, you agree to Stripe’s Connected Account Agreement. Quari is not responsible for delays caused by Stripe’s payout schedule, your banking institution, or verification requirements imposed by Stripe.
Your Responsibilities as a Seller
As a seller on Quari, you are solely responsible for: (a) the content, accuracy, and legality of your published works; (b) setting your own prices; (c) fulfilling purchased orders and handling buyer refund requests in accordance with any refund policy you communicate; (d) determining and remitting all applicable taxes (including VAT, GST, and sales tax) on your sales proceeds — Quari does not collect or remit taxes on your behalf; and (e) complying with all applicable laws in the jurisdictions where you sell.
You may only sell digital content (e.g., ebooks, documents, downloadable files) through Quari storefronts. Physical goods and service bookings are not permitted through the storefront checkout.
Your Content
You retain full ownership of the content you create on the platform, including manuscripts, cover designs, storefront copy, and any content you substantially author or edit. Quari Press claims no ownership interest in your original works. Publishing through us does not transfer any intellectual property rights to us.
By using the platform, you grant Quari Press a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, process, and transmit your content solely for the purpose of operating the service — including rendering your storefront to prospective buyers, delivering purchased files, and generating AI-assisted content at your direction. This licence terminates when you remove the content or close your account.
You represent and warrant that: (a) you own or have the necessary rights, licences, and permissions to the content you upload or use as inputs; (b) your content does not infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party; and (c) your content complies with all applicable laws.
AI-Generated Content
Quari Press uses large language models (including Claude by Anthropic and models by OpenAI) to assist with manuscript generation, storefront copy, cover designs, and other creative content. All AI-generated content is provided “as is.”
You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying all AI-generated content before publishing or selling it. We make no representations about the accuracy, completeness, originality, or fitness for any particular purpose of AI-generated text, images, or designs. AI models may occasionally produce content that is factually incorrect, stylistically inconsistent, or that superficially resembles existing works. The risk of publishing AI-generated content rests entirely with you.
By submitting inputs to the Bindery (including your brief, voice sample, manuscript ideas, and interview answers), you acknowledge that those inputs are transmitted to third-party AI providers for processing. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Acceptable Use
You agree to use Quari Press only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not use the platform to publish, sell, or distribute content that is defamatory, obscene, harassing, or that infringes any third party’s intellectual property, privacy, or other rights. You are solely responsible for ensuring you hold the rights necessary to publish any content you upload or generate.
You may not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform, scrape content at scale, reverse-engineer our systems, or use automated means to interact with the service in ways that degrade performance for other users. Violation of these restrictions may result in immediate account suspension.
We reserve the right to remove any content that, in our sole judgement, violates these Terms or that we are required to remove by applicable law, without prior notice. Where feasible, we will notify you of the removal and the reason for it.
Copyright & DMCA Takedowns
Quari Press respects intellectual property rights and expects users to do the same. If you believe that content on our platform infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice to our designated copyright agent at:
Copyright Agent — Quari Press, Inc.
Email: [SUPPORT EMAIL — founder to specify]
Subject line: “DMCA Takedown Notice”
Your notice must include: (a) identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed; (b) identification of the allegedly infringing content and its location on our platform (URL); (c) your contact information (name, address, phone, email); (d) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or law; (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf; and (f) your physical or electronic signature.
Upon receipt of a valid notice, we will act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content and notify the user who posted it. Users who repeatedly infringe third-party copyrights will have their accounts terminated.
If you believe content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice. We will reinstate content if we receive a valid counter-notice and the complaining party does not file a court action within the statutory period.
Limitation of Liability
The Quari Press platform is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Your use of the platform is at your own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Quari Press, its directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of revenue, loss of data, or loss of business opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of the platform.
In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the greater of (a) the fees you paid to us in the three months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $100. Some jurisdictions do not permit certain limitations of liability, so the above limitations may not apply to you in full.
Termination
You may stop using Quari Press at any time and request account deletion via your account settings or by contacting us. Cancelling your subscription does not automatically delete your account or data.
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, third parties, or the public, or for any other reason in our sole discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Content Ownership, Limitation of Liability, and Governing Law) will survive.
Changes to Terms & Governing Law
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify active subscribers by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION — founder to specify], without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of [JURISDICTION — founder to specify], and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
For questions about these Terms, write to us at [SUPPORT EMAIL — founder to specify] or legal@quari.press.
